LOCAL-ORGANIC-SUSTAINABLE

LOCAL-ORGANIC-SUSTAINABLE

I don't know about all of you out there, but I am concerned about the position we have put ourselves in.  What with the price of oil rising daily,( currently at $120 barrel), and the value of our money dropping equally as fast, how can we all be expeced to stay afloat?
To complicate this,  the world has also enterend into a food crisis.  How is it that many third world countries do not have enough to feed their own?  What has happened here?

The price of oil effects our food costs and with the scare of pricy oil, many  farmers have decided to plant corn for biodiesel use.   Apparently, this  economic decision to assist with the fuel crisis, has impacted the food supply to a great degree.

WHile shopping in our grocery stores, if you pay attention to the country of origin of the foods we eat, it shocks you to see and think about all those "FOOD MILES" sitting on our tables.  How can we consciously choose blueberries grown in Chile knowing that the "FOOD MILES" represent gallons of gas?  To  obtain fresh refridgerated berries on our breakfast table, we have now impacted our environment.

We need to be aware of the damage through greenhouse gase  emmissions, that is done to our environment, because of our choice to eat out of season.

We all need to do our share.

EAT LOCALLY, Chose ORGANIC, and the SUSTAINABLE will follow by default.

EARTH DAY 2008-  TIME TO MAKE  A CHOICE
